Italy: Trento's SFT now part of Apofruit Italia

The agreement between OP Apofruit Italia and the S.F.T. (Società Frutticoltori Trento) cooperative was recently signed.

"On July 1st, S.F.T.'s board of directors decided we should be part of the PO. The agreement will bring a huge change for the marketing of organic apples both in Italy and on an international scale. The entire production, i.e. 4,000 tonnes, will in fact be sold under the Almaverde Bio brand," explained general manager Ilenio Bastoni (in the photo).

"The agreement will also lead to a rationalisation of costs, also thanks to a cooperation for purchasing, logistics and services. Most of all, it will make us stronger on the organic sector and improve the results of members. In addition, it will make us more competitive on the international markets, Middle East, Southern Mediterranean, Asia and South America in particular."

"This system is also applicable to different areas and products. We are keeping the identity of the company and the connection with the territory strong thanks to the direct relationship between the structure and the members and by acquiring the benefits of great innovation projects."

S.F.T. manager Armando Paoli agrees on the common objectives - "we became part of Apofruit because it is a chance to grow for our products and associates. The development of emerging markets and brand policies require us working together using strategies without which it would be difficult to reach our objectives."
