“Flexible and easily available time slots”

"Lufthansa Cargo works with "Direct Ramp"

Lufthansa Cargo is sold with 1.7 million metric tons of cargo and mail and the sales of 8.6 billion freight ton kilometres per year, one of the largest airfreight enterprises around. Just at Frankfurt Airport alone, Lufthansa coordinates around 1,400 orders a day. Over 90 loading docks are used to handle the trucks and the cargo of their customers.

Transparency in logistics
To coordinate this process optimally Lufthansa Cargo has decided to work with the dynamic time slot management system "Direct Ramp" of the company EUROLOG. With the aid of Direct Ramp the airfreight company coordinates loading and unloading of its customers vehicles at Germany’s largest air cargo hub. With Direct Ramp Lufthansa Cargo achieves transparency of their transport processes. Especially the customers will benefit from this transparency. And this program offers the opportunity to make use of the resources and parking spaces at the airport.

“We chose this dynamic time slot management solution because EUROLOG really understood the way our processes work,” explains Selina Sauer project manager Direct Ramp at Lufthansa Cargo, “This system hasn’t only convinced us, our customers are very satisfied too, since the time slots are flexible and quickly available.”

Customers can choose the desired time slots
Lufthansa employees can determine the duration of import and export with Direct Ramp. And the customers have the opportunity to book the desired time slots via an interface or the internet. The system automatically checks and confirms all requests. The highlight: The system is automated and has an intelligent algorithm to prioritize solutions. This way time-critical deliveries get priority loading.

With Direct Ramp Lufthansa Cargo can reduce the process costs and increase planning accuracy. All time slots, ramps, docks and parking areas can be planned in advance. Lufthansa Cargo as well as the customers will benefit from this dynamic time window management system.
