Aweta presents its new technologies for kiwi quality selection

Aweta has launched new sorter machines studied specifically to assess the internal and external quality of kiwis.

Internal defect detection

The Inscan technology is based on IR radiations and was originally created to analyse apples, avocados and mangos. Nowadays, though, the sensors have been improved and can examine internal characteristics of products like peaches, tomatoes, apricots and kiwis.

Until now, the degree of ripeness of these products could only be determined by impact measuring devices, which though would only provide superficial information.

Aweta can supply a complete analysis of products – one measuring is all it takes for the Inscan to analyse the internal characteristics of a fruit and determine its degree of ripeness and the presence of any internal defect.

External defect detection
The PowerVision 3D system uses high-definition digital cameras and the LED technology to identify imperfections.

PowerVision 3D guarantees that the quality specifications defined by users are complied with and identifies any different colour tones, recognises fruit shape and reveals external defects.

These technologies have already been installed and tested by important Italian clients.

Daniele Lolli, Aweta Sales Manager, presented these technologies during the annual meeting of Fruitimprese Veneto, held recently in the province of Verona. Aweta sponsored the event and the closing night with the purpose of making people aware of the results achieved in kiwi sorting.

Aweta is doing an intense information action about this technology. In fact the a.m. public presentation follows the one done to the International Kiwifruit Organisation (IKO) during their annual meeting held in Chile in September 2014, where Filippo Casadio, Aweta Area Manager, illustrated clearly the positive results obtained in front of producers from all over the world.
