Slight decrease in North West European potato production 2015

According to the latest forecasts from the NEPG (North-Western European Potato Growers), potato acreage (excl. plant and starch) over the 5 main producing countries in North West Europe is expected to decrease by about 2.5% to reach a total of about 530,000 hectares. Based on the 5 year average of 47.2 tons/hectare and about 530,000 hectares, production could reach 25,200,000 tons, i.e. 11.6% less than last year. Compared to a normal year plantations are slightly late in some sub-regions.
