Capespan Asia & Golden Wing Mau joins forces

Capespan in Asia and Golden Wing Mau will be consolidating their supply & procurement expertise from South Africa under a single structure to secure critical mass for the whole of Asia.

This announcement follows Metspan & Capespan Japan’s recent announcement that they will join forces under a management umbrella called Capespan Asia, in support of the growth strategy to embrace the continued evolution and huge potential in the Asian markets.

"A dedicated structure to support the drive will be located in Cape Town, South Africa under the management of a Procurement & Supply Chain Manager, still to be appointed. The structure will include a dedicated Logistics Co-ordinator and hands on Quality Controllers based in the four major regions throughout South Africa including Limpopo, Durban, Eastern- & Western Cape," explains Leon van Biljon, CEO of Capespan Fruit.

"This specialized initiative will also be working in close collaboration with Capespan South Africa, specifically in terms of a shared utilization of resources in the area offices as well as the leveraging of Capespan’s relationships with some key strategic growers under the mandate of Capespan South Africa."

Golden Wing Mau established itself on mainland China in 1998 and focuses on fruit production, packing, storage, wholesale, export, import and distribution to retailers. Capespan owns a 25 % stake in Golden Wing Mau. "This partnership drives Capespan’s growth aspirations throughout China. Capespan will continue to drive its global fruit strategy and footprint while optimizing service solutions for its growers and supplier base."
