Rubin Berendse, FTT Holland:

"Customers want logistic service supplier that safe keeps entire temperature chain"

For all logistic service suppliers in conditioned transport the challenge is to get the most efficient division of the group loading to go hand in hand with the desired temperature. To be able to realise this, FTT Holland, part of the Farm Trans Group, therefore invested in 15 new multi temperature trailers at the end of last year

At the start of the year FTT Holland made use of a fully conditioned warehouse of 2100m2 with four separate cells in it, in Barendrecht. "The benefits of the move to Barendrecht, besides the fact that we have the daily overhaul in our own hands, is that it is the right inbetween place for further transport for our customers, temporary storage and or final destination for their product, which are directly picked up by the customers and/or buyer and are further transported by the other business units in the group, who I want to mention below," says director Rubin Barendse of FTT Holland.

2B Shipping
With 2B Shipping the Farm Trans Group is also multimodally active within the worldwide container transport. At the moment 2B Shipping has control over 103 reefer containers (45 ft) that are permanently en route on the Ireland, United Kingdom, Poland and Scandinavia lines. This transport is provided by tractors with TRS.

Farm Trans Fresh & Frozen
From Lommel (Belgium) and now also from Barendrecht, Fresh&Frozen loads the total distribution of the frozen and fresh product for both the Benelux, Germany and France. To be able to load this together, cooling trailers with double evaporators are used exclusively.

"Due to the separate cells we can store products at four different temperatures and the chain is safeguarded from our depot at all times. The expectation is that more and more customers will see the advantage of a complete logistic service supplier, who in state to safeguard the entire temperature chain of the product," says Rubin Barendse.

"Almost our entire trailer fleet is fitted with T-comm, a temperature registration and guard system that gives us real time insight into the current temperature of the trailer, temperature registration including data storage and graphical representation, automatic alarms when the temperature range is exceeded, geo-position determination of the vehicle and insight into the occupation of the trailer park. All of this contributes to an almost closed temperature chain," concludes Rubin.
