Gerard Sevenhuijsen, Tuindersbelang:

"Good demand white cabbage, red not going so well"

Demand for white cabbage has been good for a number of weeks now. "The demand is highly spread out. Export destinations include France, Germany, England, Spain, Israel, Saudi Arabia and Malaysia," says Gerard Sevenhuijsen of Tuindersbelang in Warmenhuizen, an agency specializing in red and white cabbage. "Some cabbage also went to Poland, but that's decreased a bit, and the export to Southeast Europe is also decreasing somewhat."

"The white cabbage supply is lower than in other years, which also applies to the countries surrounding us. The price is around 32 cents for the large sizes. A reasonable price, but not extremely high either. Which is good for a change," thinks Gerard, who expects a stable market situation for the coming weeks. "The market for red cabbage is a lot more difficult. There is some demand, but plenty of supply, and the price is pretty low at 11 cents for the large sizes."
