New experts for citrus, table grapes in South Africa
According to Don Limon's forecast, lemons will manage to meet the high demands for the markets since many of the newly patented orchards are coming into production. The demand for grapefruit looks also promising this season with sizes to peak between 45 and 55. The smaller counts are a result of the lack of rain during December in the north of South Africa. Oranges will experience slightly lower volumes. Due to hail damage in early March on the Western and Eastern Cape some producers expect a loss of up to 70 percent.
Two local experts on citrus and table grapes
The customers of Don-Limon are served by two young agricultural experts. They are both located in South African to be in close contact to the producers to guarantee good quality and marketing of their fruits on the one hand and therefore provide the best possible service for the customers on the other.
Edrich Burger and Carel Jacobs are passionate about agriculture. They both grew up in producer families and have learned the basics of citrus and table grapes production in South Africa from early childhood. To expand their first-hand experience in the fruit industry in order to improve the work efficiency and to add value to the supply chain and the fruit marketing they completed their studies in agriculture at the University of Stellenbosch.
For the past year Edrich and Carel have proofed to be successful consultants for producers to improve their returns and revenue.
