The harvest of the extra-early peach varieties has already started in Huelva.
At the moment, the varieties harvested are the Plawhite, which is a white-fleshed peach, and the Plagold, a yellow-fleshed peach. These varieties have little importance at a provincial level, but in about 10-12 it will be time for the Florida, which is the most common one in the province.
Other more selective and uncommon varieties will also be harvested, such as the Fuentes, which are intended for special orders.
Industry sources stress the good condition and quality of the fruit currently in the trees, although it will be necessary to wait for the stonefruit campaign to be a little more advanced in order to make an accurate global assessment.
Regarding tropical fruits, which are small in the province of Huelva compared to Andalusia as a whole, the flowering and first settled fruits can already be observed in the mango plantations.
When it comes to avocados, according to the weekly information bulletin of the Council of Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development, the Bacon, Fuerte and Hass varieties are in pre-flowering. The overall growth stage is that of visible bloom and the Hass harvest is on-going.
Loquats are being harvested in most places. The fruits have been damaged in some cases due to the weather conditions this year, especially the strong winds.
As regards cherimoyas, the spring harvest is coming to a close with good quality fruit, but with prospects of a smaller production. Harvest volumes are already considerably reduced.
