Thessaloniki wholesale market in pictures

The wholesale market in Thessaloniki is a large market with over 200 stall holders. A lot of fruit and vegetables grown domestically are supplied, along with imported products. The Central Market of Thessaloniki was founded in 1966 as the Central Fruit and Vegetable Market of Thessaloniki (CMT) and has been active at this place since 1976, just outside Thessaloniki. In 2003 the Central Meat Market was added to it.

Mainly Greek products are sold. Around ten years ago the wholesalers were mainly active at night and early in the morning, but nowadays the opening times have changed and work is also done during the day. A lot of products are also exported to Balkan countries from here. There are a few traders who also import themselves, so products such as exotics are less available. The products are displayed brightly.
