Polish mission to Algeria to promote bilateral trade

Polish fruits and vegetables, food storage equipment, agricultural machinery and construction and medical equipment are the key sectors to be promoted by the participants of a Polish trade mission to Algeria, which is considered very promising in terms of cooperation prospects.

This Tuesday, Deputy Prime Minister Janusz Piechociński is leading an economic mission in Algeria accompanied by dozens of Polish entrepreneurs who will meet in Algiers with representatives of Algerian companies. During the mission, Piechociński is also taking part in the Polish-Algerian economic forum.

Last year, trade between Poland and Algeria nearly doubled, exceeding 736 million dollars. "With such an impressive performance, Algeria became Poland's third largest trading partner among Arab countries, and also the second in Africa," stresses Piechociński.

The Vice President of the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency, Monika Piątkowska, stressed that Algeria is the second most important African market for Polish companies. "Trade has been developing for many years in the food sector. We pursue to expand trade for fruit and vegetables, frozen food and food storage equipment, such as freezers, for example," she said.

She added that Algerians have shown great interest in agricultural and medical equipment. According to Piątkowska, this brings also opportunities for collaboration in the tourism sector.
