Potato specialist expands with 200,000 square foot packing facility
Tasteful Selections, marketed by RPE, is second to none. The brand’s aggressive growth and development expands to a 200,000 square foot facility in Bakersfield, California. Celebratory events will kick off with a day for trade media on March 18 followed by a day for food bloggers March 20. Retailers and foodservice professionals are invited for private tours throughout the coming months.
The new operations and facility are a part of Tasteful Selections’ commitment to a higher standard of quality and innovation. The design of the complex honors Cal Green Certification Standards and food safety regulations with cutting-edge technology to improve the quality, sustainability and efficiency of Tasteful Selections’ operations.
The new facility is completely dedicated to storing, grading and packaging more than 4,000 acres, approximately 8 million pounds, of Tasteful Selections specialty potatoes. Improvements include enhanced temperature controls and stainless steel fixtures throughout the facility. A redesigned water system allows all water to be reused in either the washing process or application to nearby farmland.
Tasteful Selections looks forward to the endless opportunities the new facility offers, including welcoming new employees to the operations. Currently employing 257 Tasteful Selections and contract workers, the company expects that number to grow with the expansion. Over the past five years, Tasteful Selections has continued to experience an annual growth in the double digits.
