Calypso® Aussie mangoes hit in US

The first shipment of Australian ‘Calypso®’ mangoes exported to the United States has had an extremely favourable reaction from retailers and consumers.

Grower OneHarvest dispatched 700 trays of the luscious golden tropical fruit with the rosy pink blush to the US as part of a commercial trial organised by the Australian Mango Industry Association (AMIA).

The trial was made possible due to the development of export protocols to allow irradiated Australian mangoes into the US and the initial shipment marks the beginning of a three year export program that will test the market’s appetite for the fruit and build awareness.

OneHarvest partnered with Giumarra for the launch of Calypso® into the US and retail trials were conducted in Texas and California, with samples also sent to key retailers across the country.

The fruit captured a lot of positive attention and sold out quickly, auguring well for the future of Aussie Calypso® mangoes in the US.
