Banana company launch new premium brand

The Allfresch Group have launched a new brand of premium bananas, "Amorita" which translates as Little Love.

These top quality bananas are grown by a limited number of selected growers in Mexico and Ecuador and are destined for the US, New Zealand, Chinese, European and Middle Eastern markets.



AllFresch will be working with strategic partners in those areas to sell the fruit.

Ben Reed commercial director for AllFresch said this brand has been a long time in development, "We have done a lot of work on the "Amorita" brand, at the moment it will only be used for premium bananas but we will move on to other fruits starting with limes produced by our partners in Mexico later in 2015."

"We feel there is a gap in the market for a new premium brand. When you look at some of the new and emerging markets there are only the multinationals present in terms of popular brands. There has been more focus on the price point than on a high quality product which can compete with the multinationals," explains Reed.

The "Amorita" bananas will be packed in various weights according to client's requests. "We feel we can achieve a premium for this top quality fruit with a brand to identify it so that when people buy it they can be assured of a premium banana," explains Reed.

"We have started with limited volumes of "Amorita" from Mexico to New Zealand and Rotterdam and have been working with Fresh Direct in New Zealand for a number of months. shipments leaving Ecuador this week will take the new brand to the China and the Middle East," concludes Reed.
