Plantera is a company that specializes in the breeding, production and sale of seed potatoes. Plantera focuses first and foremost on the table earth-apple market within Europe. Jeroen van Soesbergen and Gerard Bovée are the people behind the name Plantera. Both of them have a lot of experience in the field of seed breeding and in production, logistics and sales field. Gerard and Jeroen are supported by the experienced salesman Eef Bruin, and by Niels Bovée. Plantera currently has 200 hectares of land in North-west Europe, of which 85% is in the Netherlands under the care of experienced growers. A significant portion of Plantera's products are organically grown and marketed.
Open days and the official opening of Plantera
Plantera will open their doors on the 6th and 7th of November for the open potato days. Plantera will officially open on November 6th. Vitabella will also be presented during these days. Vitabella is a new variety that is extremely suitable for organic growing. Staying firm while being cooked, taste, presentation, earliness and resistance to phytophthora are all core qualities of this variety.
Along with all the good cooking qualities this variety has, it is also suitable for home fries, an emerging phenomenon in the Dutch kitchen. The variety can be stored well (in the dark). Vitabella has proven itself in the last year and it has been an 'eye-catching' product due to its high resistance to phytophthora. Due to its high resistance to phytophthora and its earliness, this variety is extremely suitable for gardeners.
