Prices of fruit and vegetables grow in Kazakhstan

During the period from 30 September to 7 October in Kazakhstan the price of pears has grown by 11%, due to reducing supplies of cheaper local production. This is caused by the end of the harvest season and running out of stock.

It is also noted that the majority of grapes available on the market are more expensive varieties of table grapes, thus, the wholesale prices have increased by 40% and led to an average rise of 10% in the markets of Astana.

Moreover, tomatoes have grown in price by 11%, due to the replacement of cheaper seasonal production with greenhouse tomatoes. Likewise, the supplies of seasonal cucumbers are reducing; potatoes and cabbage have also gone up in price by 10%, onions - by 13%.

Nevertheless, according to the monitoring of KazAgroMarketing, in some regions the seasonal stocks of certain vegetables are still sufficient, and this has contributed to a decrease in the prices of beetroot and carrots by 19% and peppers – by 10%.
