The jackfruit, the world's largest fruit

The jackfruit is a large sweet fruit with a strange appearance that can weigh up to 35 kilos and have a diameter of up to 25 centimetres; in fact, it is considered the world's largest fruit. Its pulp is very similar to that of the sour sop. It can have up to 105 calories per 100 grams, it doesn't have fat and has a high fibre content. 

The jackfruit tree doesn't tolerate dry climate and grows in tropical climate. It is native to Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka and can now be found on the American continent, specifically in Central America. It was introduced in Mexico for productive purposes and the plant adapted to the weather conditions of the state of Nayarit. 

The jackfruit, also known as breadfruit, produces between 150 and 200 fruits in one year, especially in the months of February and July (depending on the tree's age, variety and habitat). 

Health benefits
The jackfruit can help people have balanced health, as its consumption can provide the following health benefits: 

-It helps the thyroid gland. The jackfruit contains copper, a mineral essential for the production and absorption of thyroid hormones, which, among other things, helps synthesize fats and proteins minerals. 

-Preventing anaemia. The fruit contains iron, thus it can help prevent anaemia, which is due to iron deficiency. 

-Strengthening bones. The jackfruit is rich in magnesium and calcium, which helps build and give strength to the bones, preventing conditions like osteoporosis.

-Power and energy. As the jackfruit has simple sugars, such as fructose and sucrose, and vitamins B1 and B2, it can help people have more energy for their daily activities. 

-Maintaining healthy eyes and skin. The fruit contains large amounts of vitamin A, which can help your view and prevent problems such as macular degeneration and night blindness; in turn, vitamin A also helps keep our skin soft and alive. 

-Helps Good digestion. The jackfruit contains fibre that can help prevent constipation.
