Edeka will start using 'Ohne Gentechnik' logo

From September 2014 onwards, German retailer Edeka will feature the 'Ohne Gentechnik' logo on selected private label products, German website lebensmittel-praxis.de reports. At the moment, extensive and rigorous control procedures are running at suppliers of suitable products.

To support this logo, Edeka has become a partner of the 'Verband Lebensmittel ohne Gentechnik' (VLOG). "We've been committed to promoting food free of gene technology for years", Edeka director Markus Mosa explains. This will have to be made clear on the packaging of private label products as well now.
