China organises ninth edition of the 'World Potato Congress'

David Thompson, president of the 'World Potato Congress Inc' recently announced that the Chinese district of Yanging, near Peking, has been chosen as the location where the ninth 'International World Potato Congress' will be held from the 28th to the 30th of July 2015. It will be the first time that the congress has taken place in the region of Peking. The gathering will take place at the 'Bejing Badaling International Conference & Exhibition Centre'. Over 900 representatives from all over the world are expected, including growers, researchers, producers, traders, processors etc. who will participate in the conference.

President Thompson, from Prince Edward Island, Canada, explained: "The district of Yanging with its focus on green development and an urban, modern organic agriculture, environmental protection and tourism, is an ideal venue for the representatives, who come to our tri-annual congress."

Li Xiangzhong, president of the People's Government of Yanging, said that his government was very happy with the opportunity to present the district of Yanging and the region of Peking to the leading figures in the potato industry from around the world. "Both the local and the international visitors will equally profit from the exchange of information and first-hand announcements about the developments within the potato industry," according to Xianzhong.
