Orange juice prices increase due to disease

Price of orange juice continues to soar due to Florida oranges suffering disease since the start of the season. Florida is the world's second orange juice producer and harvest is expected to drop 18% this year. This means that prices will be similar to 1985 (disastrous frost) which caused a surge in orange juice prices on the New York Stock Exchange to rise over 11% in 3 weeks.

Authorities have seen their harvest forecasts drop four times more than expected. The USDA recently published a report on frozen orange juice, stating that prices are unprecedented since the end of March 2012. The Yellow Dragon disease is not the only reason for such high prices- the drought in Brazil (world's number 1 orange juice producer) is also an important factor.

A majority of investors are positioning themselves for an increase in orange juice prices due to the current conditions of the market. Only a few Forex brokers (such as AvaTrade) offer their trading account holders to speculate and earn money on such a volatile raw material. Over the last 2 weeks orange juice prices have gone from $153 to $157 with a 9% growth ensuring a satisfying profit for traders who bought over this period.
