Vegetables from Binghausen for sheikhs in Dubai
The company from middle class entrepreneur Laurenz Meyer (54) processes 3,500 tons of organic fruit and vegetables yearly and employs more than 150 qualified workers in Binghausen to prepare 75,000 tons of deep frozen vegetables and fresh vegetables per year. Fifty people work at the Polish branch in Kozuchow (since 2006). The premises in Binghausen (Twistringen) exist more than 25 years. Annual turnover: more than 40 million.
During the BioFach-fair in Nürnberg Meyer announced to the Minister of Agriculture for Lower Saxony, that next to the new organic range he was also looking into sustainability and processing of regional products, such as carrots, potatoes, celery and turnip. "Our customers cater for the supermarket industry. Next to salad and delicatessen products we also supply manufacturers and producers of ready to eat meals," adds Dominik Willkommen. Most produce is sold within Germany, export within Europe is around 15%, but the company also delivers to major customers including Dubai. There are future plans for a new larger logistics centre.
