Ultra-fast processing speed and ideal for soft fruits

Kaki sector to gain competitiveness with the new grading machine

After successful tests carried out during the autumn campaign with products such as Persimon kakis, the Spanish company MAXFRUT S.L. has announced the launch of its new Venus P.114 grading machine; a system able to handle soft fruits and to carry out the sorting at a speed of 15 pieces per second.

Based in the city of Alzira, Spain, Maxfrut S.L. is a manufacturer of post-harvest machinery specialised in the grading of all sorts of fruits and vegetables, from cherry tomatoes to melons, watermelons and onions.

The Venus P.114 is able to sort products with a diameter of between 25 and 125 millimetres; it weights each fruit at great speed, allowing for optimal, high-speed grading. The machine has a floating system which slows down the fruit and lets it drop either on the exit conveyor or the packing tables.

"The Venus P.114 is truly a state-of-the-art grading machine. Its high-end technology and the introduction of an innovative guiding system allows us to work at insane speeds," explains Stephane Mérit, marketing and export director of Maxfrut. "Its exclusive design creates enough room for the grading of a great range of products in large amounts, which allows for a high productivity."

Main advantages:
• True speed of 15 fruits per second.
• Up to 8 simultaneous lines.
• Up to 64 exits.
• Full machine management from control system.
• Weighting accuracy: +/- 1 gram.
• Possibility of remote assistance via the Internet.
• Management and access to statistics.

Maxfrut installed the machine at the facilities of the Valencian company Soldat Export SL for the grading of Persimon kakis, a fruit with increasing levels of demand both nationally and internationally and which needs to be treated with care.

"We have plenty of experience in the sale of citrus, but recently we decided to start working also with kakis. Consequently, we needed new machinery suitable for its grading, as kakis are soft and need to be treated carefully," explains Paco García, manager and owner of Soldat Export.

"This grading system has allowed us to multiply our yearly production volumes by five without even using 25% of the machine's capacity," continues Paco.

"Some days we have processed between 45,000 and 57,000 kilos in eight hours," adds Pedro Tello, technician of Soldat Export, "but it could process a lot more."

Another of the machine's advantages is its versatility, which both Paco and Pedro consider very interesting. "The fact that the Venus has two fully independent lines has allowed us to grade oranges and kakis at the same time. During the stonefruit season we will be able to sort plums and peaches, for example. This will open new doors for us and makes things easier in the export market."

"The Venus gives you great value for money and its supplier offers an excellent customer service," concludes Paco García.
