During Fruit Logistica 2014, FORMIT presented their combi-peeler. FORMIT is a company that develops, manufactures and markets equipment used for the peeling and shaping of fruit and vegetables. The combi-peeler is a machine that peels potatoes and vegetables. This machine has several advantages. It peels clean raw material and the finished product has a knife-like cut surface. This is all achieved with one machine. A large variety of products can be peeled without mechanical adjustments. In addition to this, it also has low levels of energy consumption and low maintenance costs due to long service intervals.

The last advantage mentioned above has even been proven by a customer of FORMIT, Hammargårdens Sambruksförening. Nine years ago, Mr. Brånalt from Hammargårdens Sambruksförening bought a peeler and after nine years he contacted Rune Särs of FORMIT, because he needed four refurbished rollers.

Rune Särs said: “This was actually long overdue. Normally, our clients are recommended to send two rollers back for refurbishing of the knife elements after three years of use. Maintenance costs are very low. Mr. Brånalt can send his rollers to us and we will service them or replace the rollers in one way or another. This story shows us that our maintenance levels are very low and that our machines are manufactured to a very high standard.”
