Spain: Murcia to increase fruit and vegetable exports to Russia

The agricultural organization, ASAJA Murcia, is in favour of boosting exports of fruit and vegetables to Russia so that it becomes a priority market for Murcia's horticulture.

According to Alfonso Galvez Caravaca, Asaja Murcia's Secretary General, "the Russian market has great potential for the consumption of fruit and vegetables from Murcia. We believe it is essential to boost exports in this market and increase them to at least 20% in the next three years."

The secretary general stressed that, "it is essential to consolidate Murcia's horticultural sector's distribution channels in the Russian market. To achieve this, we must develop promotional campaigns and product tasting in Moscow and St. Petersburg so that Russian consumers become familiar with our fruit and vegetables. "

Galvez insisted that "it is a market with tremendous growth possibilities for Spanish fruit and vegetables, so we must seize this opportunity so that it complements the European market."

Additionally, he stressed that, "the Russian market is very stable and highly values the quality of our products, and that is very important for Murcia's food sector economy."
