This is why two new varieties were recently recorded - Blue Moon and August Delight - which have been granted to Vivai Zanzi.
Blue Moon
The tree is spreading and medium vigorous. Productivity is average and constant. Self-incompatible (advised pollinators are August Delight* and Blue Free) with early blossoming. Ripening around 10th August, 15 days before the trial Stanley variety.
Fruits weigh around 70-80 grams and are slightly oblong with a blue-purple skin. The flesh is yellow, turning more orange when ripe, very firm and with an excellent taste.
This variety is interesting because of its ripening period and big tasty fruits. The flesh is very compact.
August Delight
The tree is spreading and medium-high vigorous. Productivity is good and constant and the plant is rustic and tolerates cold weather. Partially self-fertile, it accepts pollen from all European varieties. It is considered a universal pollinator because the blossoming period is very long.
Fruits weigh 70-80 grams and have an ellipsoidal shape. The skin is blue-light purple, whereas the flesh is yellow, firm and with an excellent taste. Fruits ripen 10 days before the Stanley variety.
This variety is interesting because of its ripening period and big tasty fruits. The flesh is very compact.
