Ukrainian banana consumption increased

Banana import to the Ukraine has, in the last four seasons steadily increased, reports German website Fruchtportal.de. According to figures bananas are top of the total fruit imported to the country. In season 2012/13 Ukrainian importers brought 300,000 tons of bananas, an increase of 17% compared to previous years, the highest level ever.
 
The Ukraine, do not grow their own bananas, but the steady growth in import volume shows a rapid increase in banana consumption in the country. Banana consumption in the Ukraine has grown by an average 9.3% which has gradually surpassed the sales volume of apples, the traditional fruit of Ukrainians.
