Capogreco Farms is active on the domestic as well as the export market, at the moment 60% of produce is sold within Australia and 40% goes for export. Bruno Capogreco, Operations Manager at the company, explains that they are hoping to up the export to 50% and have some new customers on board to boost that side of sales.

The domestic sales mainly go to the supermarkets such as Coles and Woolworths as well as wholesalers. The season runs from January to May and melons are packed on-site under the BJ Melons brand, there are also coldstore facilities on site and the airport. Bruno explains the benefit of having coldstorage at the airport, "We export both by sea and air, the advantage of having stock at the airport is that we can ship melons overnight when our customers demand them. We are moving more to sea freight for the obvious reason of cost to our customers."

The company will be investing in a new grading and packing machine soon to improve efficiency.

Bruno and his brother Dane, who is in charge of marketing, had a stand at Asia Fruit Logistica in Hong Kong, where they were able to promote the company.
