"Advantages of "Bag in Box" packaging for agronutrients"

The term "flowable" is the closest concept to "concentrated suspension". A CS formulation combines the qualities of an emulsionable concentrate with those of wettable powder. This type of formulation is used when the active ingredient is a solid insoluble in water or in organic solvents. It can be easily ground and is mixed with a liquid along with emulsifiers and dispersants, until a stable concentrated suspension is formed.

Concentrated suspensions are easy to handle and to apply due to their liquid condition. Something common to all CS is that they tend to separate phases and form precipitates on the bottom of the container, so they must always be well shaken before use. Because of this, and to facilitate this inevitable shaking, it is generally impractical to use containers larger than 10 litres. This is one of the main disadvantages of CS, that an inadequate homogenisation can cause obstructions in the filters of the application systems. This problem has been solved with the BiB packaging, which allows for an easy, fast and simple handling of the product at the moment of shaking.

Codiagro, faithful to its innovative tradition, was a pioneer several years ago in the introduction of the BiB system (Bag in Box) for its CS products, such as Alcaplant New, Borocal New, BR-59, Agrowhite, etc. The BiB packaging system facilitates the re-suspensibility of CS formulates and is traditionally used in the food sector to contain products as delicate as wine or juice, providing multiple advantages which have turned it into the most frequently used type of packaging nowadays.

With the BiB we obtain a more stable CS product over time, but most of all, a better re-suspensibility, due to how convenient they are to shake them, necessary for the use of any CS. This system allows for better integration between the phases of the formulation, enabling the product to be perfectly ready for use within seconds. This is essential to prevent obstructions in irrigation systems.

Codiagro is one of the few manufacturers which sells its CS in a wide range of capacities, of up to 1,000 litres.

Other advantages of the Bag in Box system, which are just as important, derive from it being a more environmentally-friendly material.

BiB packaging is 100% biodegradable and produces lower CO2 emissions than HDPE (High Density Polyethylene). Additionally, the processing of its waste materials has a much lower cost, mainly due to the difference in weight.

A Bag in Box container with a capacity of 20 litres weighs just 90 grams, compared to the 1,000 gr of a traditional 20 litre carboy or Jerrican.

All of these advantages led Codiagro to consider, several years ago, the introduction of this advanced type of packaging in our CS products. Codiagro is currently the only plant nutrition manufacturer which has renovated its Flows packaging system with the goal of preserving the optimal quality of its products and obtain maximum customer satisfaction.
