Onion Specialities International will start browning onions in October

From October Onion Specialties International will start production. The company will concentrate on fried onions and frozen onion products and is being managed by Bert Schot, who for almost thirty years was employed by Rieber & Son from Sint-Maartensdijk. Shareholder is Henk Jansen, who is also the owner of Uienhandel H.B.Jansen, Zoomweg Zeeland Coldstore and Continental Stevedoring Company

"At the moment we are rather busy renovating the premises. There will be a freezing line for the frozen product. We intend to start the production of the first production line from October. Onion Specialties International existed already thirty years ago and is therefore still familiar to long-time customers" Bert says. "We go for a wide range of sales channels, from retail to food service and industry. We offer the onions in packs of 100 gr to 15 kg. About 95% of sales will be directed towards export to Germany, Scandinavia and the U.S. as most important markets."

He is full of confidence about the future. "We have sufficient experience with fried onions and the market for these products is still growing. Because of recent take-overs clients do not have much choice and there is more than enough space for a new player on the market. Our factory will to a high degree be automated and as few as possible human hands will be involved. We believe that with an efficient factory and a high quality we will be able to find our place on the market."
