EU: Possible relaxing of CBS restrictions

At last week's EU-SA summit, the subject of the Citrus Black Spot regulations was on the agenda.

Although there are only limited details as yet, it is understood that that the EU may willing to "be more flexible regarding the lifting of restrictions", on South African citrus entering the EU.

While discussing the status of the SADC EPA Group-EU EPA negotiations both parties agreed that the negotiations should conclude shortly. Reaffirming the importance of reaching an agreement that is mutually beneficial, enhances growth and
generates jobs and supports development and integration in Southern Africa. "We are convinced that solutions to pending issues can be found. To this end, we urged
our negotiators to expedite their work," stated a press communication.
