Spain: Exquisite Fruits starts vegetable production as well as fruit
Exquisite Fruits started this year with the cultivation of vegetables, this in addition to the existing fruit production. "We thereby focus on the Italian California pepper, the Murcia paprika and the black aubergine," says Daniel Vidal from the commercial division of Exquisite Fruits.
"Our harvest of black aubergine differs from that of Almeria and therefore offers many business opportunities. When the harvest in Almeria is over, the harvest of the Valencian black aubergine starts, which we mostly sell to the Netherlands."
In Spain the production of wild peaches (paraguayo) is increasing. On the European market, the demand for the wild peach is also growing. "Germany is the largest buyer of wild peach," says Daniel Vidal. He believes, "that it is a promising product with market potential, like the kaki fruit. We have great confidence in the upcoming harvest of persimmon fruit. We expect a doubling of the harvest and sale of our brand KinKaki. The harvest of the ordinary peach, however, is low because of the damage caused by hail in Murcia."
The products of the Valencian company Exquisite Fruits originate in the plantations of Gandia (Valencia). In Murcia, the French Bulida variety is grown, alongside the Valencian Galta Roja, nectarines, peaches and Paraguayos (wild peaches).
“Our outward markets are mainly Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Right now we want to get the IFS Broker label, a quality standard that is increasingly demanded by large retailers in Germany and France.”
Exquisite Fruits is currently targeting Eastern Europe. "We already have entries in countries like Russia and Ukraine. They are promising markets with high quality demands, in which the relationship between supplier and customer is essential."
