France: Tomato season started at Prince de Bretagne

Since the start of February, Prince de Bretagne has offered small fruits (cocktails, cherries on the vine) and, since the end of February, round and vine tomatoes.

The first supplies of Saveurs d'Antan (heirloom) tomatoes also arrived last week, completing the range available.

Supplies of vine tomatoes will reach substantial levels from week 17. Volumes will increase progressively until the beginning of May: supplies of small fruits, Saveurs d'Antan and Cœur de Bœuf will then be at peak season levels. Overall for the season, volumes will be in the order of 80,000 tonnes, with stable volumes for vine and round tomatoes.

This year will also be notable for new lines: orange Cœur de Pigeon, the cherry tomato shaker and flowpack trays for Cœur de Pigeon.
