France: Janny MT increasing performance

Janny MT, a leading company for preservation modules, offers the possibility to fruits and vegetables growers to maximize fresh produces’ preservation, while improving handling and transport.

Janny MT’s equipment is now established as a true revolution in the world of cold room storage. Indeed, any grower, equipped with an ordinary cold room can now benefit from controlled atmosphere in a flexible way and adapted to its production. “Our individual modules of controlled atmosphere allow spreading the sales of fresh produces progressively in time, while preserving their quality” – underlines Céline Kuentz – the Marketing Manager of this Company that has a real leadership on this sector.

This way, any grower will earn flexibility and will be able to extend the shelf-life of fruits, vegetables, mushrooms and even flowers. For instance, cherries can now be preserved 25 days instead of 7 days without this innovation. Another major example is Pears. Studies have proved that the varieties William and Conference gain one month of preservation with Janny MT individual modules of controlled atmosphere. This way, the commercialization length is extended and pears keep their color and firmness. Of course, a good management of the orchard and an adapted harvest stage are essential.

The same is true for asparagus: when harvest advice is respected, green and white asparagus gain 20 days of preservation thanks to this equipment. All this, with no effect on the gustatory quality, the weight and the color.

These modules have given birth to another innovation that is also patented by Janny MT: the French Company proposes airtight and watertight modules. This innovation will meet the interest of several types of interlocutors. For produce items that soak in brine, for example, olives, this rectangular and stackable container allows optimized space management during transportation and facilitates handling and cleaning.

For nut production, in ordinary storage conditions, nuts get browner and lose their white color after three months on average. The R&D made on this new system has shown that this problem could be delayed to eight months of storage. Consequently, the company dealing nuts has five additional months in order to sell its production or stock at – a better price.
