AU: Glasshouse tomatoes from Perfection Fresh
All have been specially selected for glasshouse production and all are lines exclusively grown at Two Wells.
From the gourmet to the everyday, each tomato has been developed to enhance specific characteristics - flavour, appearance, shelf life, and year round availability.
Each type includes variations in skin thickness and translucency, texture, water content and acidity. Eating attributes also vary with some ideal for fresh snacking while others suit cutting, slicing or cooking. All contain the powerful antioxidant, lycopene.
Sold on their truss, loose, or in punnets, pack types also offer choice and convenience based on intended use. Smaller trussed tomatoes may be left on the truss for cooking while larger varieties can be plucked off, one at a time, as needed.
Hydroponically grown, glasshouse tomatoes are protected from extreme weather and require only a tenth of the water used in field cropping - sustainable and great for the environment.
Unlike field grown tomatoes which can split when exposed to excessive heat or rain, glasshouse-produced tomatoes can be left on the vine longer to reach their full colour and flavour. This results in pristine, blemish-free and flavoursome fruit all year.
Firm yet juicy D'VineRipe® truss tomatoes are glossy red, large, round and all-purpose and are available in Woolworths, Coles and independent outlets year round.
The Tomato Medley pack contains up to six different tomatoes - and always a minimum of four - all grown at the D'VineRipe glasshouse. A pack may include The Original™ grape (grape-shaped red snacking tomatoes), The Original™ golden grape (grape-shaped yellow snacking tomatoes), Romatherapy® baby roma, gourmet cherry, yellow cherry or Zebrino (a medium sized brown tomato with distinctive green stripes).
Appealing in shape and bursting with robust flavour, Romatherapy® baby roma tomatoes are mini versions of egg-shaped romas. Super-healthy, they contain twice the antioxidant - lycopene - of regular tomatoes. They are perfect for snacking or in salads, pastas or finger foods. They are sold loose in 250g packs.
Outlets and availability:
Delectable and sweet with a rich, fruity flavour, Il Bello Rosso® baby roma tomatoes are sold on the truss offering high plate appeal. Their firmly attached vine and calyx enhances their appearance and provides the option to cook and present tomatoes on the truss. These tomatoes can be roasted, baked, grilled or sautéed - all on the truss.
