Netherlands: Van Natures first Winter grown vine tomatoes

The Dutch growers’ association Van Nature is now for the first time able to offer its customers vine tomatoes grown by one of its members in the winter season. The first batches of vine tomatoes of the 2013 season were delivered Thursday 3 January. They were grown in the illuminated greenhouses of the brothers Stefan and Jasper Oussoren.

This new cultivation strategy enables the brothers to supply good-quality vine tomatoes on a year-round basis. Grown under sustainable conditions, the tomatoes meet all the strict quality and food safety requirements of Van Nature and its customers.

Van Nature had been in search of winter-grown tomatoes for some time. That demand has now been met by the Oussoren brothers. A few other members - Jami VOF, Gebroeders Mies and Solyco – will soon also be harvesting vine tomatoes and plum tomatoes.

The year-round availability of high-quality tomatoes is important with respect to Van Nature’s market-focused approach based on the desire to meet customers’ requirements in the fields of food safety and quality.
The tomatoes will be available under the well-known VDN brand as well as in your own packaging.
