Intra-Asia Container Index - 15 Dec:

Intra-Asia container index rises 6% to US$709 per 40ft container

Drewry's Intra-Asia Container Index (IACI) increased by 6 per cent in the first half of December, reaching US$709 per 40ft container. The index is a weighted average of spot freight rates across 18 major intra-Asia trade routes and is currently 24 per cent lower year on year.

Drewry expects intra-Asia freight rates to remain broadly stable during the second half of December as Christmas-related demand eases. Rates are then forecast to firm in January 2026, supported by tighter vessel capacity during an extended peak season.
