Egypt's Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Alaa Farouk, reports increased strawberry export volumes for the 2025 season. Deliveries to Russia rose by 150 per cent compared to last year, according to information carried by MENA.
Total strawberry production and export volumes from Egypt increased by 25 per cent year on year. Market reach has expanded, with frozen strawberries now shipped to 86 countries, up from 70 in the previous season. Farouk states that export demand remains high and that contracts for cultivation are already in place. He anticipates that domestic market prices for berries will rise in the coming days, adding that this development will support farmer returns.
Farouk attributes the early market arrival of the crop this season to climate change and abnormally high temperatures. The earlier start to the harvest has influenced supply flows and export scheduling.
Egypt has previously reported increased export performance in other agricultural categories, including citrus, potatoes, and beans, to various regions.
