Peru's fruit export value surpassed Chile's between January and October 2025. Fresh Fruit reported Peru at more than US$11.300 billion for the period and Chile at US$10.700 billion. In 2024, Peru exported US$12.300 billion in agricultural goods and Chile US$13.100 billion, with fruit dominating both portfolios.
Fresh Fruit director Rony Corvera said Peru's basket "shows substantial growth, because they have taken the agricultural issue seriously." Between 2021 and 2024, Peru recorded compound annual growth of 12.4 per cent compared with Chile's 7.6 per cent.
Peru's rise is driven by blueberries, grapes, and avocados. In 2024, blueberries led with US$2.342 billion. Andina reported blueberry exports grew at an average annual rate of 122 per cent between 2010 and 2024. Avocados reached US$1.248 billion and grapes US$1.705 billion. Chile exported US$292 million in avocados and US$1.341 billion in grapes in the same year.
Chile's main fruit exports include cherries, table grapes, apples, kiwis, plums, and blueberries. Cherries led Chilean shipments between January and October 2025 at US$1.847 billion. Chile Fruits president Ivan Marambio attributed Peru's rise to policy incentives, irrigation expansion, and Chilean investment.
Peru's growth projections are tied to its Agricultural Promotion Law, which reduced the corporate tax rate to 15 per cent, and a national irrigation program, adding new hectares to production. Logistics improvements include airport upgrades and the Chancay megaport.
The United States is Peru's largest fruit market. Fresh Fruit projected US-bound fruit exports at US$3.687 billion for October 2025. Blueberries reached US$861 million between January and October, with grapes and avocados completing the core fruit group. These products totaled US$2.227 billion, "representing an increase of around 25 per cent compared to the same period in 2024."
Both countries face logistical and phytosanitary demands in export markets. Midagri's Carlos Inga noted that "there is a clear intention to form strategic alliances" for the year-round supply of avocados, blueberries, citrus, and grapes.
