Azerbaijan's import and export patterns for fresh produce showed mixed dynamics in the first eight months of 2025.
Kiwi imports declined to 2,452 tonnes worth $1.82 million, down 10–12% from 2024. Purchases from Iran decreased to 2,298 tonnes, while imports from Chile (77 tonnes) and China (75 tonnes) rose from a low base. Italy supplied 1.9 tonnes, four times as much as a year earlier.
Kiwi exports increased to 80 tonnes, more than double last year's value. Russia imported 37 tonnes, and Kazakhstan reduced purchases to 18 tonnes. Deliveries to Ukraine resumed after a nearly 2-year pause.
Imports of lemons and limes totalled 15,983 tonnes worth $15.54 million, roughly unchanged year-on-year. Turkey remained the main supplier with 9,372 tonnes, though volumes fell by around 15%. South Africa delivered 5,103 tonnes, slightly below last year. Imports from Argentina (634 tonnes), China (263 tonnes), and Iran (382 tonnes) registered significant increases.
Pomegranate exports reached 5,163 tonnes valued at $4.4 million, rising 38% in volume and 32% in value. Russia purchased 4,924 tonnes, a 47% increase. Georgia also expanded imports, while Ukraine reduced purchases.
Pomegranate imports remained modest at 71 tonnes, coming from Russia (28 tonnes), Turkey, Iran, Peru, and South Africa. A small first-time shipment from Colombia was recorded, just 0.05 tonnes.
