It's a great time for the pumpkin industry. Maurizio Carbonini, the sales manager at OP Mantuafruit, discusses the market for this product, which the Italian company has produced for the past three to four years. "Pumpkins are doing very well right now. Demand is high, and so are prices. We have a few varieties, the main one being the Delica. The situation is also positive for Violina and Butternut, though with average volumes. Before the start of the campaign, there were some weather problems that could have affected production, but we overcame them."

The pumpkins are sold under the brand name "Dolce Dolce" and come in custom-designed boxes. "The packaging is appealing and eye-catching, meeting the standards of our group. We are surprised by the strong demand for pumpkins in October and early November. Depending on how orders continue in the coming weeks, we will know how long the product will be available."

Melon: 2025 budget
Regarding the melon campaign, Carbonini emphasizes its success. "There was a downturn in the last week of July, with falling consumption and prices. September was unremarkable, both qualitatively and quantitatively. However, if we look at the year as a whole, we can only be satisfied. There were weeks of high demand and good prices, so we must fairly evaluate the year as a whole, not just the short period."

In 2025, Op Mantuafruit expanded into more areas, bringing the total hectares under melon cultivation to over one thousand, which is an increase compared to 2024. "This has allowed us to fulfill all orders, both domestic and international, without any major issues," the director concludes. "Although there is always an element of uncertainty in planning that can cause problems, everything has fortunately gone according to the overall plans."
