The Agricola Campidanese PO, which maintains a stable 250 hectares of artichokes every year, started placing the first volumes on the Italian market last week.

The commercial director of the Sardinian PO, Salvatore Lotta, spoke with confidence about the beginning of the new campaign: "We started with very few volumes last week. The first feedback on consumption indicates an interesting and positive situation, although excessive heat persists throughout Italy. Nonetheless, early products are always popular."
© Agricola Campidanese OP (main)"We are currently harvesting the Tema and Spinoso varieties. The season is getting into full swing right now, with a significant increase in volumes. We will, in fact, start shipping between 5,000 and 10,000 heads per day, but the production peak is expected in mid-November, when we expect to reach 40/70,000 heads processed daily."
Prices for the first wholesale heads range from €0.80 to 1 per piece, with quotations that are about 15% lower than in 2024. "This drop is not due to quality problems, but to a proactive strategy, as we tend to lower the prices slightly in order to push consumption. On the climate front, we are registering crucial improvements for the market, as we are starting to see some rain and temperatures more in line with the period. The season looks promising."

Despite the macroeconomic challenges, the outlook remains encouraging. To ensure the success of the campaign and support demand, the company adopts a dynamic pricing policy, aware of the impact inflation has on all commodities. "Inflation continues to influence purchases, especially as wages are, in some cases, even lower than they were in 2008. This scenario changes preferences at the point of sale, with consumers often choosing fruit and vegetables that are cheaper and less demanding to prepare in the kitchen."
