Adjara launches citrus coordination headquarters ahead of mandarin harvest

To ensure smooth operations during the citrus season and support the sale of this year's harvest, a Citrus Coordination Headquarters has been established in Adjara, Georgia, by regional and national agricultural authorities.

The headquarters will operate until 1 February 2026, focusing on efficient harvest collection, sales coordination, and farmer support.

As part of the government's measures, a state subsidy of 35 tetri per kilogram will be provided for non-standard mandarins designated for processing, with an additional 5 tetri contributed by processing companies. The total price for processing-grade mandarins will therefore reach 40 tetri (0.13 EUR) per kilogram.

According to forecasts, 60–65 thousand tons of citrus fruit are expected this season, about 30% more than last year. Export-quality mandarins will be shipped to over 20 countries, while non-standard fruit will be processed at two canning plants in Kobuleti.

The traditional citrus harvest season, known locally as "Orange Rtveli", will begin in November and continue for four months, with the peak harvest period anticipated in mid-November.
