Egypt gains access to Peru for strawberry seedlings

Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk announced on August 21, 2025, that Egypt has obtained market access to Peru for its strawberry seedling exports.

The announcement followed a report from Mohamed el Mansi, Head of the Central Administration of Agricultural Quarantine, who confirmed that negotiations between the Egyptian Agricultural Quarantine and its Peruvian counterpart led to the opening of the Peruvian market. Mansi noted that this development is part of ongoing efforts by the Egyptian Agricultural Quarantine to expand export opportunities for Egypt's agricultural products across global markets.

Farouk expressed appreciation to the Agricultural Quarantine staff, the relevant Ministry of Agriculture departments, and other stakeholders for their role in promoting Egyptian agricultural exports. He emphasized their efforts in opening new markets, maintaining product quality, and preserving the reputation of Egyptian produce abroad.

The minister added that the step supports Egypt's position in exporting propagation materials such as seedlings and seeds, to establish Egypt as a hub for supplying these products to international markets.
