Brazil papaya exports set July record

Brazilian papaya exports continued to show strong demand in July, reaching a new record for the month. According to data from ComexStat, shipments to international markets, particularly the European Union, remain attractive to producers and exporters.

In July, Brazil exported just over 4,000 tons of papaya, generating approximately US$6.2 million (FOB). While the volume was 2.8% lower than in June, it was the highest figure recorded for July since ComexStat began its historical series in 1997.

Cumulative results for January to July were also above previous years. In this period, Brazil exported more than 31,000 tons of papaya, generating over US$43 million in revenue. This represents a 32% increase in revenue and a 29% increase in volume compared to the same period in 2024. The 2025 results are the highest ever recorded for the sector since the start of the historical series.

The performance is largely driven by shipments to European countries, which account for more than 95% of all Brazilian papaya exports. Expectations are that export performance will remain strong through the rest of the year, with potential for further investment in production aimed at international markets.
