New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) has launched its Made With Care New Zealand campaign in Bangkok, introducing the Fruit Truck caravan to bring fresh produce from New Zealand directly to Thai consumers. The campaign highlights New Zealand's approach to food safety, quality, and sustainable farming practices.
The launch event took place on 5 August at Lido Connect, Siam Square, attended by Hon Todd McClay, New Zealand's Minister for Trade and Investment, during his official visit to Thailand. He was joined by H.E. Jonathan Kings, New Zealand Ambassador to Thailand; Suzy Fewtrell, New Zealand Trade Commissioner to Thailand; and Chatjen Tantakhom, Country Manager for NZTE Thailand.
Executives from Thai retailers and import partners also attended, representing CP Axtra, Tops, Big C Supercenter, Gourmet Market, City Fresh Fruit, Vachamon Food, Navatan World Fruits, and V.S.M. Fruits. According to McClay, "In the past year, New Zealand exported more than NZ$97 million (approx. THB 1.9 billion) worth of fresh produce to Thailand. This reflects the trust Thai consumers place in our food high-quality, safe, and sustainably grown. Thanks to these partnerships, our growers can now offer their premium, branded fruits to more Thai consumers, more conveniently than ever before."
New Zealand produces branded fruit varieties and invests in developing new cultivars to offer different flavours and varieties to consumers worldwide, including Thailand.
The Fruit Truck will feature a selection of branded produce from New Zealand, including Envy apples, Jazz apples, Dazzle apples, Rockit apples, Tarzi apples, Zespri kiwifruit, and Avanza avocados. The apples differ in flavour profiles, appearance, and uses, while the kiwifruit and avocados are marketed for their nutrient content and production in New Zealand's growing regions.
Throughout August, the Fruit Truck will visit multiple Bangkok locations, including Lido Connect Siam Square, Makro Ramintra, SWU Night Market, CentralWorld, Gateway Ekkamai, Skywalk Chaengwattana, and Lotus's Sukhaphiban. These stops will allow Thai consumers to access New Zealand produce and participate in tasting activities.
