The company first established operations in Quito in 1995 with a focus on air logistics. Since then, it has expanded through acquisitions, including Master Transport in 2013 and Panatlantic in 2018, particularly strengthening its role in Ecuador's perishable goods sector. The company now offers a range of international trade and supply chain services in the country.
According to Diether Bohn, Managing Director for Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, and Venezuela, the new facility consolidates the company's Quito-based teams into a single location. He noted that this move is expected to improve internal coordination and streamline logistics processes for clients.
Kuehne+Nagel's current services in Ecuador include air logistics for general and perishable goods, cross-docking, airport storage and distribution, ocean freight (both full container and consolidated), and customs management. The company also provides options for reducing carbon emissions within these services.
Country Manager Mónica Jimenez stated that the new facility represents a continuation of the company's long-standing involvement in transporting Ecuadorian products to global markets. The facility is intended to improve infrastructure and support evolving logistics demands.
