"It is an honor to be elected AGAP president for this period. I am grateful for the trust of the members of this strategic sector for the country. Over the last two years, we have worked to recover the path of growth and development of the entire Peruvian agricultural sector, of small family farming as well as agriculture, agro-exportation, and modern agro-industry. We have great challenges for this new period and we will continue to promote the competitiveness of the entire agricultural sector, to continue generating a highly positive and relevant economic and social impact for the country," said Gabriel Amaro.
Amaro emphasized the sector's role in formal employment in rural areas, impacting poverty reduction and social well-being through diverse agricultural investments. Alejandro Fuentes León, former vice president (2018-2021) and president (2021-2023), joins the Board as Past President.
AGAP represents producers, processors, traders, agro-exporters, associations, and private companies in Peru's agricultural sector, focusing on competitiveness, formal employment, market access, and legal framework improvements.
