For Van Ooijen Citrus, 2025 is a milestone year. The import and export company from Ridderkerk is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, along with the 10th anniversary of its own brand, El Arte. "El Arte de Cítricos is a premium citrus brand, which we pack using products from various suppliers and partners around the world. Only the very best quality is selected for this brand," emphasizes Tom Leenheer.
"Currently, we offer several products and varieties from different origins under this brand, including Salustiana and Valencia oranges, Tango mandarins from Egypt, and Orri mandarins from Israel. In addition to these, we also pack a wide range of products from Uruguay under the brand during the summer season," the importer explains. "We continuously work on developing our brand, and next season, we plan to include Moroccan and South African citrus under El Arte as well."
"The Orri mandarin season will last at least until the end of April, while the Moroccan mandarin season will continue until mid-April. Meanwhile, we are now two weeks into the Egyptian Valencia orange season, and we expect to continue at least until the end of May," says Tom. "The market is quite slow at the moment, but we see this every year around this time due to holidays and carnival celebrations in Europe. Despite this, demand for mandarins is picking up significantly, and prices are expected to rise in the coming weeks."
