“Traders and retailers can get real-time crop insights”

Agricultural technologies are continually evolving, thus leading to a flood of instant, accurate crop data. The Agromanager aims to give growers a total solution that provides traders and retailers with real-time insight into certain aspects of the fruit they want to purchase. "The Agromanager is an all-in-one modular administration package," says Berdien Rosmeulen, the company's Customer Success Manager. It operates in Belgium and the Netherlands.

"Growers can register all their plots in the spraying schedule package. It contains a link to the applicable crop protection regulations. That is done per country. It also offers a control function for Belgium and the Netherlands. Growers receive an error message if, in their planning, the dosage or interval doesn't comply with legislation. Reports are made of the cultivation operations, which can then be shared with the cooperative or supermarket."

With a task card, you can deal with trees specifically.

This basic grower package includes harvest estimates and information about the eventual harvest. "All info is linked to a crate label, which offers full traceability: which plot, the picking date, variety, crate weight, etc. If, say, growers picked the apples on a rainy day, they can add that. You can link software that uses camera technology to calculate average size grading or predict quality to the Agromanager, too," explains Berdien.

Multiple modules
Besides the crop module, the Agromanager also offers GPS, cooling, storage, and time recording modules. You can use the GPS package at a tree instead of crop level. The time recording module tracks the number of prunings or picking per plot, and which picking group is responsible for which box. Thanks to the cooling module, growers or packers know what their cold stores hold at a glance.

With just a scanner, the fruit can be conveniently entered, moved, and removed again. Entering data manually into a computer is a thing of the past. When sorting, the stock overview provides quick, efficient insight into the inventory with an intelligent filter that groups everything by things like size, customer, and variety.

Via the overview screen you can see which box is placed where in the cold room.

Data flows between growers and buyers via links. "We're currently building a portal—a tool outside the Agromanager environment—that lets clients request information from fruit growers about, for example, stocks or the crop protection used. When the grower receives an email asking, 'Do you agree to share this data?', a simple click on the yes button can give customers real-time insight into some of the info they need, stored in Agromanager," concludes Berdien.
