Philippines is set to export another batch of fresh mangoes to Australia

The Philippines is set to export another batch of fresh mangoes to Australia, aiming to strengthen trade relations. The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) announced this move amidst a significant recovery in bilateral trade, with trade volume reaching USD 4.1 billion in 2023, a 20% increase from USD 3.4 billion the previous year. DTI Secretary Fred Pascual highlighted the potential for Philippine products in the Australian market, citing the export of mangoes as a key example of agricultural trade success. The Second Protocol of the ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement (AANZFTA) was signed to enhance trade and investment ties.

The Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Sydney (PTIC-Sydney) is spearheading efforts to promote Philippine agricultural products, particularly mangoes, through trade fairs and consultations. Philippine Ambassador to Australia, Ma. Hellen B. De La Vega, noted the second mango shipment as a milestone in the countries' Strategic Partnership. FastboxPH, the logistics firm handling the shipment, reported a high demand for Philippine mangoes in Australia, attributing it to their taste and quality. Miguel Ripoll, Managing Director of FastboxPH, expressed optimism for the continued success of Philippine mangoes in the Australian market.
